wOMEN'S MINISTRY FRAMEWORK
The Mission
To form women who delight in biblical womanhood, are rooted in sound doctrine, build strong and fruitful homes, and serve the church and community faithfully, gladly under the care of the elders and for the glory of Christ.
Theological Foundation
God has established three primary spheres of authority in Scripture: the Family, the Church, and the State. Each sphere has its own God‑given responsibilities, leaders, and boundaries, each accountable to God and governed by His Word. The family is the foundational sphere where life, discipleship, and daily faithfulness are cultivated. The church is the covenant community where the Word is preached, the ordinances are administered, and believers are equipped for ministry. The civil sphere maintains justice and order in society. A women’s ministry is not a separate sphere; rather, it exists to strengthen and support the spheres God has already ordained, especially the household and the church, by equipping women to live faithfully within them.
Core Commitments
• Scripture is the final authority for faith and practice.
• Men and women are equal in dignity and worth, yet distinct in role, according to God’s design.
• The local church is the primary context for discipleship and mission.
• The household is a God ordained sphere of ministry, central to Christian faithfulness. • Women’s ministry exists to strengthen, not replace, these God ordained spheres (The Family, The Church, The State).
Principles for an Integrated Women's Ministry at Awakening Church
The women’s ministry is intentionally designed to work in harmony with the broader mission of Awakening Church. These principles ensure that the ministry remains connected to the life of the whole congregation and supports the God‑ordained spheres of family and church.
Elder Oversight & Authority
Principle: The ministry operates under the care and direction of the church’s ordained leadership.
Why This Matters: Elder oversight provides unity, doctrinal clarity, and alignment with the church’s mission.
Practical Application:
• Women’s ministry leaders are appointed by the elders.
• Curriculum, budget, and major events are approved by the elders.
• Leaders meet regularly with the elders for prayer, guidance, and reporting.
Mission Focused on the Whole Church
Principle: The ministry exists to strengthen the entire congregation and support the church’s mission.
Why This Matters: A whole church focus keeps the ministry outward facing, unified, and connected to the broader body.
Practical Application:
• The mission statement explicitly supports the elders, families, and the congregation. • Activities are evaluated based on how they contribute to the church’s overall health. • Women are equipped to serve in church wide ministries, not only women specific ones.
Complementary Discipleship
Principle: Women’s teaching supplements and reinforces the preaching ministry of the church.
Why This Matters: Complementary discipleship promotes doctrinal unity and ensures that all teaching flows from the same biblical foundation.
Practical Application:
• Studies focus on instruction drawn from Scripture, particularly in areas of Christian living and biblical womanhood. They may be shaped by the church’s sermons, other teaching, or specific passages of Scripture (e.g., Titus 2, Proverbs 31, 1 Peter 3, Ruth, Ephesians, or James), but are not structured as formal verse by verse exposition. Topics may include doctrinal themes (such as the attributes of God, the doctrine of Scripture, the fear of the Lord, and the fruit of the Spirit) and practical areas of Christian living that support the
household and church (such as hospitality, discipleship in the home, spiritual disciplines, biblical womanhood, marriage and motherhood, stewardship, and cultivating a gentle and quiet spirit).
• Women’s teaching is always aligned with the church’s confession and under elder oversight.
Service Directed Outward & Inward
Principle: Women’s ministry seeks to bless the entire church family and the surrounding community.
Why This Matters: A posture of service fosters unity, generosity, and a shared commitment to the good of others.
Practical Application:
• Meal trains for any church family in need.
• Childcare support for church wide events.
• Hospitality teams for newcomers.
• Service projects that bless the broader community.
Litmus Test for Any Women's Ministry Activity
Before launching any event, study, or program, leaders will ask:
1. Does this activity honor and submit to the elders’ leadership?
2. Does this equip women for service within the broader church and their homes? 3. Does this complement what is being taught from the pulpit?
4. Will this foster unity across the congregation?
5. Does this honor God and exalt the name of Christ?
If the answer to any of these questions is “no,” the activity will be revised or declined.
Ministry Pillars
• Elder approved, leader guided studies through Scripture, or selected books designed to complement the preaching ministry and help women apply the Word faithfully. • Doctrinal training in areas such as the attributes of God, covenant theology, and spiritual disciplines, always aligned with the church’s confession.
• Titus 2 discipleship, pairing mature women with younger women for relational, life on life instruction.
• Annual women’s conference, reinforcing core truths and encouraging multi generational faithfulness.
Household Strength & Fruitfulness
• Training in homemaking, hospitality, budgeting, and home discipleship, led by mature women and designed to strengthen the household as a primary sphere of Christian faithfulness.
• Marriage and motherhood workshops that offer biblical instruction and practical wisdom for cultivating strong, Christ centered homes.
• Support for single women in building fruitful, stable, and God honoring lives within the church and community.
• Encouragement toward adoption, foster care, and community care, helping women consider how their homes can be used for mercy, hospitality, and long term faithfulness.
Fellowship & Community Life
• Monthly women’s gatherings that foster fellowship, prayer, and encouragement within the broader life of the church.
• Quarterly hospitality nights, hosted in homes, that cultivate warmth, connection, and a culture of shared life.
• Intergenerational events that bring together women of all ages for mutual encouragement and Titus 2 discipleship.
• Neighborhood or location-based prayer groups that strengthen community ties and encourage women to pray for one another, their families, and their neighbors.
Service & Mission
• Mercy ministry teams that provide meals, care, and practical support to any church family in need, demonstrating Christlike compassion to the whole body.

• Assisting with church wide evangelism efforts, including preparing handouts, welcome gifts, follow up materials, and other resources that support outreach.
• Supporting the men’s ministry by helping prepare materials, gifts, and logistical items that strengthen their discipleship and outreach efforts.
